Living Pasts: ELTE and UU Continue Cross-Border Collaboration

May 14th, 2025

Following the success of the Living Pasts pilot in 2024, Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) and Utrecht University (UU) are pleased to announce the continuation of their collaboration for the upcoming academic year. The course brought together students from Budapest and Utrecht in a hybrid learning environment, encouraging intercultural exchange and creative, community-engaged research.

Throughout the pilot in 2024, students worked closely with local stakeholders and produced a wide range of inspiring final projects, highlighting the potential of collaborative storytelling and place-based learning. These outcomes have not only deepened connections between the participating institutions but have also demonstrated the relevance of the Living Pasts approach within the broader CHARM-EU framework.

Preparations for the next edition, set to begin in September 2025, are already underway. This time, the course will center around the new thematic focus “Stations”, inviting students to explore intersections—of cultures, histories, and futures—through an interdisciplinary and translocal lens. ELTE and UU are excited to continue this dynamic partnership and look forward to welcoming a new cohort of students to co-create meaningful heritage narratives across borders.

Keep an eye on the registration deadlines for 2025!
